Case Study: Maude Hill Culvert Replacement

Gladstone Regional Council (GRC) required design and construction services for the replacement of culverts on Maude Hill Road, located near Deepwater, a locality within the Gladstone region. Miriam Vale Plant Hire was awarded the contract with GRC.

Recognising the challenges assocated with the location, Miriam Vale Plant Hire engaged Netbright to provide a a technology solution to monitor and respond to activity occurring on site. This included:

  • Intelligent video monitoring to detect vehicle and peronnel activity occurring on or near site equipment.
  • Detecting attempts to tamper with excavator battery and fuel through the use of wireless sensors.
  • Enabling remote access for supervisors to check local weather conditions.
  • Providing on-site personnel with Internet access and voice calling in an area with poor 4G coverage.

Miriam Vale Plant Hire have been able to optimise project delivery and improve site safety of the project for GRC through remote monitoring of personnel movements and assessment of local weather conditions prior to daily mobilisation, while ensuring assets deployed to the site are secured.
